In just a few minutes, you will arrive at the heart of Venice, the Palazzo Ducale (or The Doge's Palace). This gothic palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice and was the symbol of the Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia (or The Most Serene Republic of Venice). This Italian state originated in the city of Venice and existed for one thousand, one hundred years, from the 8th century until the 18th century (1797). This extraordinary building has a bell tower, a clock tower and superb panoramic views of the San Marco Basin.
